"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

Even though I'm not even old enough to be thinking about college, I sometimes wonder. I know I don't want to sit in a cubicle for the majority of my life making an adult's version of minimum wage.

I know I want to be a writer.

But like most writers, I'll need a second option to fall back on. I used to want to be a fashion designer, and before that an artist, but something else has been nudging at the back of my mind--graphic design.

I adore designing blogs. I love making my own images for my posts and going font-crazy. I love cleaning old photos off my computer and organizing my picture folders, I love finding that perfect shade of blue, yellow or coral and memorizing the hex for it. {#00cccc for blue, #ffff00 for yellow and #ff3333 for coral, if you're wondering}.

I'm rambling now.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the answer to what you want to do with your life is much more than 'doctor, lawyer, teacher' etc. People and their interests change, expand and grow, just like the cycle of the seasons.

So, what do you want to be when you grow up?

xoxo,
Annika

  1. #000000 for black HECK YEAHHH

:D the graphic design market is about as steady as the writing market, so I'd start thinking about a third fallback option...

I definitely want to write sometime, but I'm not sure what else I want to do. There are just so many options. XD Be glad you're not in high school and constantly pressured to choose.

  2. Sounds like a good idea for jobs, hope you achieve them both! :D

I want to be an Actor(film, t.v. and theater), a Writer, a Filmmaker/Director, and Screen play writer. I also want to recording a few singing albums and get a Black Belt in Taekwondo, Judo, Karate, Kempo, and Akido.

  3. that question has been following me around for months now. everyone wants to know what i want to do, and at 17, i don't have much time left. in a few months, i'll be done with school, and i'll have to make my choices. but the truth is, i still have no idea.

i love writing, and i'd love to be an author, but i'm scared i'll never be good enough, and my parents are determined for me to get a 'real' qualification before i go ahead with my writing.

i really really really don't want to work in a cubicle, though. definitely not.

  4. @Amaranthine: Umm... if you say so. XD And-- what did you do to your avatar!? Lemme guess, fruits basket... -_-

@Shena: Awesome! I think you can do all of those things and more. :D

@Maya: Oh, wow... you're in quite a pickle. I think people should lay off you, though. You're still young, and even adults don't quite know what they want to do for a while. :)
